Kinder surprise, kinder mini eggs, kinder surprise maxi, kinder Schoko Bons are some of the kinder chocolate products by the Italian company Ferrero.

But there was a recall on 2nd April in many countries due to its Belgium plant linked to a Salmonella enterica Serovar Thyphimurium cases.

According to WHO, about 151 cases were found related to this in different 11 countries in Europe including 1 case in the United States.

Mostly children below the age of 10 are affected. Some females are also affected. But the good news is that there was no mortality related to this outbreak.

There are nearly 2500 serotypes of nontyphoid salmonella bacteria identified as causing Salmonellosis.

The disease is presented with symptoms mainly fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

The current outbreak of Salmonella also presented as bloody diarrhea in many cases.

The current outbreak of Salmonella is resistant to 6 antibacterial medicines.

WHO advised to investigate and report cases of current salmonella outbreak strain to the related health authorities.

All preventive measures should be taken at all stages of the food chain. Boiled water and properly cooked food should be consumed.
